Start from your costs, work out a break-even price, then build two to four tiers around it. Here's a simple way to do it.

Work out your prices

  1. Add up everything your event will cost, then add 10 to 15 percent as a buffer.
  2. Estimate how many tickets you expect to sell, not just your venue capacity.
  3. Divide your total costs by your expected sales. This is your break-even price.
  4. Create two to four tiers around it, for example:
    • Early Bird: a little below break-even, to get sales moving.
    • General Admission: above break-even.
    • Final Release or Door: your highest price.

Notes

  • Ticket prices don't include the booking fee. Buyers pay the fee on top.
  • Early bird tiers work best with a clear deadline. Set them to end a number of days before the event.
  • Every event is different. Adjust for your audience, competition and timing.
