Create a separate ticket tier for the group price. The best way is a tier that makes buyers choose a set number of individual tickets, so each person gets their own ticket.

There are two ways to set it up. In both examples, tickets normally cost $100 each, and a group of 4 pays $80 each.

Option 1: individual tickets at a group price (recommended)

  1. Open your event's Tickets step and click Add Ticket Tier. See How do I create a ticket tier?.
  2. Name it clearly, for example "Group of 4 (price per person)".
  3. Set the Ticket Price to 80.
  4. Leave Capacity Per Ticket at 1.
  5. Under Ticket Pricing Option, choose Fixed price listing.
  6. Open Advanced Settings.
  7. Set Min Purchase Qty to 4 and Max Purchase Qty to 4.
  8. Click Add Ticket Tier.

Buyers have to choose exactly 4 tickets, so the discount only applies to a group of 4.

Why this is better:

  • Each person has their own ticket in their own name.
  • Each ticket can be managed separately. If one person can't come, they can resell or change the name on their ticket, and the other 3 aren't affected.
  • Everyone can arrive at the event whenever they like.

Option 2: one ticket for the whole group

  1. Click Add Ticket Tier.
  2. Name it, for example "Group Pass (admits 4)".
  3. Set the Ticket Price to 320, the price for all 4 people.
  4. Set Capacity Per Ticket to 4.
  5. Under Ticket Pricing Option, choose Fixed price listing.
  6. Leave Min Purchase Qty at 0 and Max Purchase Qty at 10.
  7. Click Add Ticket Tier.

The downsides:

  • Only one name is on the ticket.
  • The whole group has to arrive together, because one ticket admits all 4.
  • If the ticket is resold or refunded, it covers the whole group, so all 4 places go at once.

Notes

  • Always use Fixed price listing for a group tier. With Cheapest available ticket pool, tiers open one at a time, cheapest first, so buyers couldn't choose the group tier alongside your single tickets. Fixed price listing keeps it available to choose separately. See How do I create a ticket tier?.
  • Both options use 4 places of your session's Max Capacity for each group. See Creating an event, step 1: Details.
  • Set the tier's Quantity to the number of tickets you want to sell at the group price. For option 1, that's 4 times the number of groups.
  • Want the group price to be available only to some people? Hide the tier and unlock it with a coupon code. See How do I hide a ticket tier from the public?.
