Use the free Triniq Ticket Scanner app on a phone or tablet to scan tickets at your entry. Set it up and test it a couple of days before your event, then load your tickets again before doors open.

You'll need an account with the Admin, Staff or Box Office role to use the scanner.

Before your event: set up the app

Do this once per event, on each device you'll use. You need an internet connection for this step, even if you plan to scan offline.

  1. Download Triniq Ticket Scanner from the App Store (iPhone and iPad) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Open the app. If it asks for permissions, such as the camera, tap Allow.
  3. Go to Settings.
  4. Tap Log In and sign in with your Triniq email and password.
  5. Tap Select Event and choose your event.
  6. Tap Load Tickets.
  7. Wait until all tickets have finished loading.

The app loads every ticket, including cancelled ones, so the number loaded will be higher than the number you sold. This lets your door staff see why a ticket isn't valid.

On the night: check someone in

  1. Open the Scan tab and point the camera at the QR code on the ticket.
  2. Check the ticket details on the next screen. It shows whether the ticket is valid or void.
  3. If it's valid and your event checks ID, ask for photo ID and check it matches the name on the ticket.
  4. Add a note if there's something worth recording, such as "ID checked" or "arrived late".
  5. Tap Check In. The ticket can't be used again.

No ticket, or the QR code won't scan? Open the Search tab, search for the person's name, tap the right ticket, then tap Check In.

Online or offline

Online (recommended): keep the device connected to the internet. Tickets bought during your event and name changes keep syncing, and you can use as many devices as you like at the same time.

Offline: for venues with weak or no internet.

  • You can only use one device.
  • Before you load tickets, turn off sales and name changes for every ticket tier in your admin. Otherwise new tickets won't be on the device.
  • Load the tickets while you still have internet.
  • Plan how you'll keep that device charged all event. You can't easily swap to another device part way through.

Need more than one scanner offline? That needs extra hardware and technical support at your gate, which we offer for larger events. Talk to us a few weeks before your event. We can also suggest ways to get internet into hard-to-reach venues.

Tips

  • If a QR code won't scan, ask the person to turn up their screen brightness and make the code bigger, or use the Search tab.
  • Not sure if you checked someone in? Scan their ticket again. It will show as void because it's already been scanned.
  • Someone says they bought a ticket but you can't find them? One option is to ask them to pay at the door, and refund them after the event if they can show they had a valid ticket.
  • Selling at the door? Use Box Office, and tick Check-in tickets so the customer can walk straight in.
  • Notes you add at check-in are saved on the ticket, so you can look back at them later.

Scanner devices for larger events

For larger events and multi-day festivals, we can supply dedicated scanner devices.

  • Set them up the same way as above.
  • Leave the camera off. Point the top of the device at the QR code and hold one of the coloured scan buttons.
  • To charge, put the device back in its dock or plug it in. A spare battery is usually in the back of the dock.

Ask us a few weeks before your event if you'd like to use them.
