Go to Settings, open Integrations and enter your Google Analytics Measurement ID, your Tag Manager Container ID, or both. Google then tracks visitors on your event pages.
Why connect Google?
Google Analytics shows you who visits your event pages and what brings them there:
- where your visitors come from, such as Google search, social media, email or a partner's website
- which campaigns, posts and ads send the most visitors
- what devices they use and where they're located
- how many people are on your pages right now
With this, you can spend your marketing budget on what's working. If you advertise on Google, you can also link Google Ads to measure your ads.
Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager?
Google Analytics is the easier option. Choose it if:
- you only have a Google Analytics account
- you aren't connecting other marketing platforms
- you'd rather keep things simple
Google Tag Manager is more powerful and flexible. Choose it if:
- you want to track several platforms, such as Google Analytics, Google Ads and TikTok, from one place
- you're comfortable with more advanced set-up, or you already use Tag Manager
You can enter both, but if Tag Manager loads Google Analytics, enter only the Tag Manager ID. See the notes below.
Connect Google
- Click Settings in the left menu.
- Click the Integrations tab.
- Under Google Integration, enter your Google Analytics GA4 Measurement ID. It starts with "G-".
- Or enter your Google Tag Manager Container ID. It starts with "GTM-".
- Click SAVE.
Where to find your IDs
- GA4 Measurement ID: in Google Analytics, under Admin, then Data streams, then your web stream.
- Tag Manager Container ID: at the top of your Google Tag Manager workspace.
Google's screens change often. If you can't find them, search Google's own help.
Create a Google Analytics account and get your GA4 ID
- Go to analytics.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Create an account, or open Admin and create a new property.
- Enter a property name, such as your company name, and choose your time zone and currency.
- When asked for a platform, choose "Web".
- Enter your event site address, https://triniq.com, and a stream name, then create the stream.
- Copy the Measurement ID that starts with "G-". Paste it into Google Analytics GA4 Measurement ID in Triniq.
Create a Tag Manager container and add Google Analytics
- Go to tagmanager.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- Create an account. Enter your company name and country.
- Add a container. Name it, choose "Web" as the platform, and create it.
- Close the install code window. Triniq adds the container to your event pages for you.
- To add Google Analytics, create a new tag, choose "Google Tag" and enter your "G-" Measurement ID. Set it to fire on all pages and save.
- Click "Submit", then "Publish". Nothing is tracked until you publish.
- Copy your container ID, which starts with "GTM-", from the top of the workspace. Paste it into Google Tag Manager Container ID in Triniq.
Tag Manager can also load tags for other platforms, such as Google Ads conversion tracking, TikTok Pixel, Snapchat Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag and Pinterest Tag. Add each one as a tag in your container and publish again.
Notes
- These settings cover every event in your company.
- Add UTM tags to the links you share, for example
?utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=early-bird, to see in Google Analytics which campaigns bring visitors to your event pages. - If you use Tag Manager to load Google Analytics, enter only the Tag Manager ID, so visits aren't counted twice.
- Only admins can change integrations.
- Why Google's numbers differ from ours: each platform credits sales to ads and visits in its own way, called attribution. Our reports use single-click attribution: each sale is credited to one click, the one that first brought the buyer to your event page. Google uses its own rules and time windows, so its figures can be higher or lower than ours. See How do I see where my ticket buyers came from?.
